Spring is Here!
Market Season, Farm Stand, and Fresh Beginnings
Dear Farm Friends,
Welp! We made it past winter. FINALLY!! Yesssss. It felt like those bitter cold days were never-ending. We are starting to see first signs of spring here at the farm. The hens are becoming very busy with their egg laying. We are getting about a dozen eggs a day from our flock. This week, we will be transferring our youngest flock out of our brooder in the basement (hehe) and onto pasture, where they can smoothly integrate into the older flock. We are adding nearly 40 layer chickens, which should start to lay their eggs in the summer. All this is to say, we should be able to sell more to y’all VERY SOON!! Thank you for your patience. I promise the eggs will be worth it. March has been a whirlwind of activity on the farm, and we’re so grateful for the support of our community as we dive into our 4th year of Homebody.
A Wonderful Start to Market Season
We kicked off our first farmers’ market of 2024, and it was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces (and some new ones, too!). The energy was incredible, and we loved chatting with you about our fresh eggs, early greens, and plans for the season ahead. Thank you for making our first market day such a success!
Big Steps Forward on the Farm
This month, we checked off some major projects, including finishing our greenhouse—just in time to nurture seedlings for the coming months. We also completed the permitting process for our farm stand, which will officially open with the anticipated date of May 2025! Having this space on the farm will allow us to offer fresh produce, flowers, eggs, and special items throughout the season, right where they’re grown. Now that we are ready to open up the farm to our customers, we are excited to make it a welcoming community space—we’re dreaming about so many new possibilities— such as U-Picks, CSAs, Farm and Art Classes, and animal visits!

Welcoming Future Farmers
Despite the steady rain, a group of 17 high school students enthusiastically visited the farm, learning how to care for alpacas and transform their wool into yarn. They observed the laying hens, asked great questions about egg production, and didn’t let the mud slow them down. Even with damp clothes and muddy boots, they pitched in to help move fencing for rotational grazing, gaining a hands-on lesson in regenerative farming. You can read about their visit here in their blog!
As we step into this new season, we want to thank you for being a part of our farm family. Your support makes all of this possible, and we can’t wait to see what this year brings. Here’s to a big season of growth and connection!
With gratitude,
Liam & Gaby
